The spike guide provides extra vertical stability for the LinkEdge when there is heavier traffic & heavier compacted areas. The spike guide slides into the slot where the fishplate connector slides into and allows for the spike to go through the guide and then the LinkEdge so it will not buckle. Only suitable for use on the 75mm or 100mm LinkEdge.
